Being yourself, these days is kinda hard to achieve. We are constantly bombarded with what we should be doing with our lives, and how we should be living. And sometimes it’s tiring and we lose ourselves a little bit to fit into this “mold” created by society. I’m sure you have felt this at some point.
Below are just a few insights I have learned these past few years that have helped me learn to let go of society’s expectations and to go back to living the life I wanted to always live.
-Spend more time with yourself-
Sit with yourself and simply be with yourself. Get to know you as if you were getting to know a friend. Spend some time understanding yourself, your interests, values, and passions. Reflect on what truly motivates and excites you. This self-awareness will help you align your goals with your authentic self.
Explore your desires, values, and passions. Embrace your strengths, acknowledge your weaknesses, and understand that both contribute to your individuality.
-Find your passion-
To become whoever you want to be, embark on a journey of self-discovery. Visualize the person you aspire to become. Paint a vivid picture of your desired identity, where dreams and reality converge. Define your goals with clarity, specificity, and purpose. Set ambitious and realistic milestones that propel you forward on this transformative journey. Seek knowledge, acquire skills, and explore new horizons. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and view failures as stepping stones toward success. With each step forward, you inch closer to your envisioned self.
-Surround yourself with the right people-
Surround yourself with open-minded friends who love you for who you are. Build a network of individuals who support and inspire you. Connect with people who have similar goals or have already achieved what you aspire to be.
-Stop trying to please others-
Don’t let every action you take or word you say be dictated by your want to please others. If we want to be who we are meant to be, we must stop seeking validation for our actions from others. Instead, acknowledge the good you have done and the steps you have taken. You’d be surprised how much of ourselves we tend to ignore.
-Take action-
The transformation from who you are to who you want to be requires action. Break down your goals into actionable steps and consistently pursue them. Embrace the discomfort of stepping outside your comfort zone. Be proactive, and stay committed to your journey.
-Stay Authentic-
Throughout your journey, stay true to yourself and your values. Avoid comparing yourself to others. Embrace your uniqueness and let it shine through in everything you do, your journey is unique. Embrace the power of vulnerability and let your true self shine through your actions, creations, and interactions. It is in embracing your authenticity that you inspire others to do the same.
Remember, becoming the person you want to be is a lifelong process. Enjoy the journey and celebrate your progress along the way.
